    Default Hello from Pennsylvania

    Introducing myself.

Watched my grandfather shave with a straight razor.

My brother got the set of razors. 8 Razor set.

I'm gonna start shaving with one.

Welcome. Practice stropping with a butter knife until you feel comfortable. Check library for info. Ask questions. Go slow. Baby steps get you there faster than jumping in full speed. It takes time so don't get disgusted. We all cut ourselves no matter how long we are at it because we get over confident.

Welcome. The best advice I've received is to have a light hand on the strop and keep the spine of the razor on the strop at all times. Shaving with a straight takes time to learn but the journey is great fun.

Welcome to the forum, great to have you here. Am I understanding correctly that the set came to you and your brother from your grandfather? Congrats! Heirloom razors are treasures that some of us will never have the chance to enjoy. My advice is to treat it kindly and think twice before doing anything that might alter it. Post some pics if you can. Enjoy!
