    Default Hello from Kansas!

Hey everybody! First off amazing messageboards here...a wealth of information and I'm sure ill be reading for awhile!

Just received my parker srw straight with 120 shark blades from amazon and a brush/mug/soap kit from van Der hagen..pretty barebones kit..attempted my first shave last night and no blood!! Just did cheeks/upper lip/chin area.

Had a slight issue with razor skipping on skin but I believe that way my lack of good lather and not pulling skin tight.

Stupid question..do I take the soap out of the plastic container and leave it in mug? thanks all.

Hello from an Old Kansas man!

Good luck with the new kit. Yeah, try taking the VDH out of the plastic. If you have a dedicated shaving mug, drop the VDH in there and zap it in the microwave for about 10 seconds (NOT more--if it needs more, do it in 5 second bursts) and it will melt to fit.
