Been shaving with a DE for a while now and recently went to the Straight. I got a vintage Henckels 4/8 Half Hollow Ground with a French Tip and had it hones by a local SRP member. I made my own paddle strop out of Mesquite Wood and English Bridal Leather. So far it's going great. No cuts and it feels surprisingly natural. Haven't got the guts to shave against the grain yet but I'll give it a shot soon. Thanks for all the information on here guys and hopefully someday I can contribute.

    danxaz,

Welcome to SRP. Glad to hear that you are getting back in the swing of things with your vintage Henckels.

Keep it up! The shaves will only get better.

Welcome to the forum. As you may have noticed there is a ton of information here. I'm from northeastern Arizona. Are there any good shaving shops in Tucson?

Thanks for the warm welcome. Unfortunately there aren't any good shops here. The only place that I've seen that has a few nice soaps and creams is AJ's market at La Encantada mall. Other than that, we've got nothing. There is a local Tucson SRP member that sells razors and maybe other things. He honed my vintage razor and is a big help.

Welcome aboard! You'll find a lot of good information here and, if you can't, just ask. You'll definately get a lot of response.
