Thread: Been hanging around for awhile

Hello from upstate NY. My name is Tim. I'm a computer geek but live a relatively low tech life despite my profession. I'm older than most of you I think. Married father of four (mostly grown) boys. I read, listen to music, throw pots, smoke cigars, cook, and garden when I'm not working or doing whatever my wife tells me to.

I've been reading the forum for almost six months. I found it when it was mentioned at B&B. I've been reading because I've been a wet shaver for a long time and though I love my DE I wanted to try a straight. I finally took the plunge and bought a whipped dog sight unseen deal that I received a couple days ago. Thanks to the members here and the advice I've been reading, I've managed to shave twice without destroying my face and strop twice without destroying the razor. In fact though I have not yet achieved the results I'm used to with my DE I've enjoyed both shaves very much. I'd like to express my appreciation to all of you for that. I'm sure I'll have questions as I go along and hope I may even manage some contribution to the site even if it's only in the form of cautionary tale when I screw something up.
