Default First Shave from NW Arkansas

    Hi Everyone,

As the title mentions, I had my first shave last night. I started out with my dominant hand (right) and nicked my self several times. Shifted to my non-dominant hand (left) and did pretty good with no nicks. Go figure. I suspect that I was more attentive and more careful with my left hand.

I think my other problem was that I did my first shave with a pretty heavy beard of 4 days. My learning curve started out pretty high.

I am very grateful for this forum and for all of the information it contains. I am also grateful for Straight Razor Designs. I rec'd two straight razors as a gift. Both are Dovo's. One is the Prima Klang Violet 5/8 and the other is the Dovo Natural 5/8. My wife bought them for me. Am I lucky or what? I also rec'd the World of Straight Razor Shaving DVD. I watched it twice before putting razor to skin. I found it to be extremely helpful Kudos to Mr. Abrams on putting together such a wealth of information out in a very understandable format.

They were honed by the folks at SRD and because they were purchased during the holidays I can get them honed at no charge for as long as I own the razors. I suspect that will be pretty often until I get the hang of all of this.

Once again thanks for being here!

Welcome to SRP. Feel free to ask any questions you have as you progress with straight razor shaving. And congrats on your first shave. Obviously you have a great Wife!
Just take your time with shaving and always be aware of where that blade is on your face. Enjoy!
