    Default Questions before restoring...

    Gentlemen,

I have been a stalker of the valuable information within these forums for awhile and have been extremely impressed with the members knowledge in responding to questions. I'm relatively new to this world, but am thoroughly enjoying it. I have a couple Dovo's that I use daily and purchased new, however I recently picked up a couple blades at a local market for cheap - $20 for the pair - with the hopes of trying my hand at a little restoration project. I know the one is a G. Johnson (equipped with the antique hammer and 7 stars) and the other is a Buchholz and Maus "blue steel" that is labeled Pittsburgh PA M.i. Germany. I've been able to find the out some general information online, but was hoping the expertise here could further that - particularly whether these are junk and not worth the time in restoring. Thanks

Welcome to SRP Mitch and to the wealth of information that lies within.
Both those blades look OK to try restoring, however, it is a bit difficult to judge without seeing more of them (particularly the edges)
The G Johnson is s bit narrow for my tastes, however, it could turn out fine - my first attempts were both 4/8 blades.
Have a read of the WIKI and the stickies in the workshop section and go for I say.
Let us know how you go (with photos of course)

Unless there is something the pics are not showing, I am wondering what you mean by "Restoration" as those razors look to be in very good shape already, if so just disinfect them, hone em up and shave away!

Unless you want to rescale them then there's not much you'd really need to do to those other than a cleanup/polish and then hone
