Still Stone Crazy After All :-(
I have to agree with OLD_SCHOOL, SRP is the best forum that ever did it overall.
The craftsmanship is impeccable, the members are balanced, the threads are collectible, and you can't beat the price !

SRP is the most amazing place on the web. Although I don't visit as much as I used to a year or so ago I still have to visit simply for the atmosphere. You guys ROCK!!!

I've done several searches online, on various subjects and I sumbled upon several fora. I read a lot of posts and threads as a guest and, indeed, I never found anything quite like this... SRP is the only forum I belong to and frequent daily, even when I'm not searching for anything - I just log in to see what's new or interesting. And every single time I find something new and interesting. The only thing I never found here is agressiveness due to internet anonimity, stupid remarks against a fellow member or pointless display of power... I guess this is a good thing.
I truly believe that this is one of the finest fora online and, despite the apparent lack of subjects to be discussed due to the specificity of the theme, I've had a lot of good reading hours here.
The tone of the conversation is always polite and civil, the members display tremendous sense of humour and one can see that there are true friendships here, even if some of us - let's face it - will never meet in person. I feel connected to these people and I think of you all as friends, not as foes if one disagrees with my views on any particular subject... and that is because there is one thing that is transversal to all: gentlemanly behaviour and respect.
Who to thank for all this? The founders of the yahoo group, the peolpe of had the idea of making this a forum, the moderators (all of them), the computer guys... every single one does an outstanding job keeping this alive and well. Congratulations on a fine job, gentlemen. And many, many thanks for making this happen...
Now, if I could only get one of the big cheeses to talk to my girlfriend and explain why I spend so much time here...

This place is VERY good. I've said it before, some how this place manages to remain friendly and welcoming even with the vast number of members - quite often your voice can be lost at sea - but not here.
Also, this place has one of the most active 'introduction' sections of any forum I use - but the great thing is it's not just new guys who post in there - every one does, that's rare. It's not just a blub and 5 guys saying 'welcome'. Personally I think this is a key element of why this place is so successful.
Another reason is the thanks feature, no one likes to look bad, everyone likes to have a good reputation. This is compounded by the active trade of items and offers of service at rates you won't find out side of the wet shaving forums.
Lastly (for this thread, at least) straight razor shaving is a hobby for a lot of people, and an art as well. Every one has their own way of doing things, and I think a lot of guys (my self included) really enjoy hearing about peoples experiences, how they've developed their technique and also how much they enjoy the experience. It's difficult to be negative about something so personal and unique to each of us.
Long may it continue.

You get a whole lot more friendly honest advice here without pettiness or the vindictiveness that you get at the Skunk & Dagger forum. There is a whole lot less avarice here because the owner actually wants to help people learn rather than be the Grand Potentate.
