Default What type/brand of "shaving" towel do you use?

I have been thinking about adding a shaving towel to my menagerie of equipment. I hope to accomplish a few things with this.
    1) Can start looking into the hot towel prep methodoligies
    2) (and curently the most pressing) Can clean up myself and the sink area after my shave. The wife really does not like the standing water/shaving cream left over after a shave and is not happy when I use the hand towels to wipe up.

That being said I have started doing a little peeking around on the web. I seem to have had the best luck searching for "bar towels", followed by "salon towels", and finally "shaving or barber towels".

So... Any recommendations? Do you prefer cotton/microfiber? What size/color? Recommended vendor/brand?

I figure if I have the question, I'm pretty sure someone else does as well. Thanks!
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

I just tell my SWMBO that's the only reason I keep her around! Lol.I would opt for the ,most comfortable feeling on the face. Whatever that is as long as it holds adequate moisture you should be OK. I bought the big pack of white I guess shop towels(the white ones) at home depot. I think they were 30 or so for 10 bucks. I don't do the hot towel thing though but they are plenty soft.

Shop towels will work. I ordered a dozen barber towels from Amazon.com.

    Amazon.com: barber towels

I don't know if they still have them however Classic Shaving sold two types, a cotton terry great for hot towels and a cotton green strip towel great for cleanup or to put on your shoulder to wipe lather off as you shave.

This is what I bought -- a six-pack. Still use 'em, still happy with the purchase.

Me too! Really helps to have some towels devoted to shaving. I find the thin ones dry more quickly and so need laundering less often, thus saving work for the devoted wife.

+2 My wife found six-packs of thin woven bleached cotton "barber" towels at a local emporium. I bought a dozen - pull a fresh one about every day. It's an affordable small luxury to pat your face dry with a fresh white towel.

I just grabbed 6 hand towels at walmart... they're soft, large enough, and get me through a week of shaves. I'm sure there are cheaper options out there. I just went with what was easily available.

I usually use hotel towels, and I do have a bunch of the "barber towels" with the green stripe on them
