Thread: Hone travel case?

I want to take my hones with me on a trip. What would be a good way to carry them?

Ideally, I think a Pelican case with customizable foam.

For now, I have an empty briefcase but I worry about them falling over each other and chipping and stuff.

What do you use when you travel? Pics are nice too.

TBH, if you just want a touch up hone or something, I'd spring for a barber hone. Small, compact and effective!

If I took my full set of hones with me I'd spend the whole trip worrying about them..!

I'll be in a hotel for about 2 weeks and was planning to take them for something to do. But, I am driving, so it's not a big deal. I can lay them down safely.

I bought a plastic Stanley toolbox to carry my hones in. I leave them in their original boxes and stack them in the case. I have about $15.00 invested.

I've never packed a suitace and worried abouth anything falling over each other. It's usually packed so full, nothing can possibly move. I would worry about having to open and re-pack it when the bag is scanned and they can't ID these flat, rectangular stones.

I think a Pelican with pick and pluck foam is a perfect solution. I have a few of them, and I was measuring one up for use as a hone travel container when I relized that I never really go anywhere with my hones.

The only caveat is that these boxes do not allow any air flow at all so everything needs to be dry before you close it up. The foam is replaceable so you can make one case function for several purposes ( like razor storage maybe?).

The only times I have transported my stones I just wrapped them in bubble wrap and used a toolbox.

I would just wrap them up in pants that are in my suitcase.

I probably have the same box, I put shop towels around them to keep them from moving around.
