Question Straight Razor storage box from a cigar box ?

I was thinking of trying to make a box to store my razors in out of a cigar box.

    Anyone ever do this?

Im not talking long term storage, just between use storage.

I found 1 of my razors has got a little bit of rust starting on the back of the spine from not storing them... DUMB I know but it happened.

    Looking for ideas ...

    Thanks

Yes, I keep mine in a Macanudo Box, Maduro "8" count. They are heavily coated in mineral oil.

Here is the type of box, not my actual box.

Are those 'tubes'? and are they big enough to accept the razor? Probably not.

Would a box of the world's most magnum cigar - with tubes - accept a razor?

If so, would one of those silicone gel thingies shoved up the tailpipe help preserve? If all else fails a couple thrown in the box couldn't hurt and that looks like a nice box.

My air conditioner runs 24-7 from May through October so everything is tender dry in here and I just put the 3 razors in my rotation on a hunk of Epay on a kitchen island segregated to shaving stuff. The Epay becons me to make some scales out of it, but my vintage RAD and RESTORE is on hold for now.

Perhaps I'll need a box some day - and that looks like a nice one.

Now, i understand the idea of letting your razors sit in a cigar box, as it is convenient, easy to get and not too shabby looking. But whether or not the box is a humidor, you must keep in mind, cigar boxes are essentially made to retain moisture. Not neccisarily the best idea. As far as glass tubes. I dont reccommend it, as they can get stuck, and theres only one way to get them out. Also, they dont make cigar tubes too much bigger than a 55-60 ring gauge, only longer. Great idea though!

Here is one I saw here a little while back that you might find interesting. I saved the picture in case I wanted to do something similar in the future. I cant remember who made it to give them the credit though.

Great pics of exactly what i was thinking. THANKS !

My thought on the box holding in moisture was that I could simply seal it with a wood sealer and that would be that.
Its more about setting the inside up to hold them in place.

I'm using a "pen case" from Rockler:

30 Pen Storage Case - Rockler Woodworking Tools

    It's been very handy.

"Sealing" the wood of a wooden case won't stop water vapor from rusting your razors. If you close the box with damp air inside, it'll _stay_ damp. You need to either (a) oil the blades, or (b) use a silica-gel or other "anti-damp" agent.
