Even if they did put anything on the ivory, you could always just turn it over and start withh the clean back side...

There's a little chip in the wood of the case on one side beside the ivory. I wonder if that's the result of someone flipping the ivory in the past?!

Agreed. I need someone who's a scrimshaw artist, like a tattoo master except in ivory. So far, I've been unsuccessful in finding the right artist. If anyone can make a recommendation--?! Thanks.
