Default To Use or Not to Use . . .

    Hello everyone:

Somehow my shave is never complete without rubbing my hands together with alcohol-based aftershave and then patting my Hollywood face. Somethings are sacred.

    Regards,

I say do what works for you. My skin is sensitive, but not so much that it can't tolerate some alcohol based A/S's. It's all trial and error for me, either my skin can take it or it can't; I know of the damage that alcohol can do to your face, but the some brands seem to work just fine. Especially Proraso - high alcohol content but just enough toner to soothe my Canadian Prairie face ( winks at Obie)

Another non-alcohol AS user here. I have sensitive skin and don't really like the way my face feels after I apply it. I usually use an alum block followed by a splash of Thayers Aloe WH and some AS balm. Sometimes (especially in the winter) I will even apply a little moisturizer after that too. I wouldn't mind trying a low alcohol based AS like proraso, but at the same time the ill effect of putting alcohol on your face outweigh the benefits for me.

    Thumbs up Logical Reasoning

So it makes sense to close the pores before any type of AS or Cologne...but is it ok to rinse of the remaining soap on your face with hot/warm water and then cold? I don't see a reason why not right? Rinse the pores of any debris and then close em...

Default Its all in the shave.

I've found that if i have prepped right, had a gentle/good technique shave using a high quality soap, my skin is perfectly able to cope with an alchohol based aftershave. If your face burns like hell when applying aftershave then you have had a rough shave, gotta get the right prep/soap/cream combo along with good technique.
