    Default "Threading"

Anyone have some good instructions, or suggestions on "threading" after shaving to remove any fine "peachfuzz" type leftovers? I've seen this in videos but never been able to replicate it.

I've never heard that term before.

It would seem to me if you have that kind of peachfuzz beard that's the easiest type of beard to shave with. If your using a straight a normal shave should take it all off. There should be nothing left over.

It's been talked about on here before... a lot of online videos will show the barber using a "thread" going over the customers face after the shave. I was told this is to "pluck" any remaining hairs that the razor didn't get.

My beard is downright "twiggy" but there's some peachfuzz around the edges that the razor never seems to get...

having dated an iranian girl.. i've seen the threading on several occasions and once even had my eyebrows threaded.. it was quite painful and i won't be doing that again.. the results were amazing though.. i looked like a male liz taylor...

anyway.. in all my experience.. i have never seen anyone perform it on themselves.. i would think you'd need someone to do it for you..

you could try that burning ball of flame though.

The fireball was pretty cool too...
Imagine the look of others when you mention not only do you shave with a straight razor, but you use fire as well!

    Default Threading

    Gentlemen:

Threading is generally performed by barbers in the Middle East and north Africa. In this case, the barber manipulates a thin string in his hands to snap off what little hairs might be left on the client. I have never known a shaver to use threading on himself. And yes, it does bite.

    Regards,
    Obie

Jump to 2:40 in this video for a good example of threading.

Don't get my idea mill started, guys. I'm getting visions of starting a forum called: "facethreadingplace.com".

Think of all the different types of thread that could be used:
    cotton
    linen
    hemp
    synthetic
    spider web
    maltese dog hair

Then it would be cool to have thread holders rather than just holding the thread in your fingers:
    sterling
    gold
    titanium
    meteor ore

Then, think of the color options!

Ok, Ok, it's the ridiculously absurd level of interest I have in all things straight razor related transferring now!

    A couple comments:

    1. I understand threading is quite effective, I work in a company owned by Persians and most of the women either do this or have it done. None for me thanks, the razors do a more than adequate job as far as I'm concerned.

    2. Is there a requirement that every middle eastern barber on the planet smoke whilst delivering a shave. I've been to Turkish barbers and Saudi barbers (both smoked while they worked.) Oddly though, it seems that every you tube video depicting a barber in the region, they all seem to smoke while they shave people. Just an observation mind you, I don't care one way or another if my barber smokes while he works or not. I'm just saying that virtually every middle eastern barber I've ever seen does it.
