    Default What's the Best aftershave

I bought some Aqua Velvet aftershave recently at the local drug store but I'm not sure I like it the smell is a little potent and stays with me for half the day. I'm not a big fan of large smells, the soaps I have for shaving actually have enough for me, but I do like the feeling the aftershave is giving me. What's the best aftershave you all have tried out and what's the worst?

This is really such a personal preference..!

The ones I really like are Spanish Leather by Trumpers, Gucci by Gucci and Armani He and Aqua di Gio, which is one of my favourites. I also like Chanel Allure Homme, which is a good winter scent.

The only one I've tried that I really didnt like was Trumpers Bay Rum. Far too overpowering for me..!

I'd like to find a few more old-timey barber shop scents, I must admit. I'll have to make a trip up to Piccadilly this weekend and find a few..!

There is not a definitive answer to that question, its like asking "What is the best car?"
I think we all went through some experimentation until we found a range of aftershaves each individual likes for themselves.

That's what I've found is that the current one I have is over powering I like to have a light scent I'm not big on colognes either. While I don't mind the scent of the Aqua Velva I don't particulary like how strong it is.

    Default What's the best aftershave?

    Hello, thlipsis:

Such an aftershave does not exist, since fragrance is reliant on personal taste. The best aftershave, therefore, is that which the person wearing it chooses for himself.

My favorites are Spanish Leather, both by Truefitt & Hill and Trumper's, Woods of Windsor, Pashana original, Taylor of Old Bond Street's No. 74 Victoria Lime, Caswell-Massy's No. 6 (apparently created for President George Washington) and the traditional Pinaud Clubman.

These are the best for me.

    Regards,
    Obie

I do not wear cologne. I'm in sales, and what some may consider to be a pleasant smell may be offensive to others. Can smelling offensively to others break a sale? Of course.

I think I'm hyper sensitive to smells as strong colognes or perfumes on others are scents that I can not only smell, but also taste. Yuck.

For AS, I take the smallest bit of Pinaud Clubman on the tip of my finger and dab that fingertip on each side of my neck. That's enough for me to smell it lightly all day. Applying any larger quantity to my face is much too overpowering. I like opening my medicine cabinet and catching a whiff of the Pinaud Clubman too.

I have been using Clubman original, Clubman Special Reserve, Stephans Bay Rum and lately I have found Alt Innsbruck.

    Hello, exarcher:

I am curious to know what brand of witch hazel astringent you use that smells like moonshine. I use Thayers Super Medicated witch hazel with Aloe Vera and detect no scent. Some witch hazels do smell like moonshine, you're right, but not this one.

I use Ogallala Bay Rum almost exclusively. I had an old bottle of Aqua Velva that I hadn't used in years. If you want to smell moonshine, thry this stuff after five or six years on the shelf.
