Default anyone try an ice pack on face immediate post shave?

So in my usual post shave ritual, I run "cold" water over my face to close up the pores. The problem is that I live in Florida, and the temperature of my cold water is 84 degrees Fahrenheit out of the tap. This really doesn't do the job too well.
I have recently tried taking one of those small freezer gel packs, and using that to gently rub on my face immediately after rinsing my face with some water. I have to say it feels really great, and it seems to take away some of the sensitivity that I usually have on my face post shave ( I have very sensitive skin). I would assume people living up north have cold enough water out of their taps to not need this, but for people with either warm "cold" water, or want to try a new post shave ritual, let me know if you try this out, I would love to know other peoples opinion of this. I figure I would share my experience.

I've had cold towels after a shave. Just soak some towels in ice water, squeeze out the excess and apply to your face. Refreshing, if you are in the mood. They probably help hydrate your skin too, but don't quote me, I'm just guessing.

+1 on the cold towels, I do the same. I rinse my face off with warm water and then put a cold towel on afterwards to close the pores.

    Works great!

Great idea. I live in Chicago now, and Lake Michigan water is cool to cold even in the summer. I used to live in Houston, however, so I know exactly what you mean.

I like the cold also. I use an Ice Cube after and before my shaves. I just hold it in a washcloth with the ice touching my skin. Bill S is right when he says it a little hydrating for the face. I haven't needed a facial moisturizer since i joined the Polar Bear Club with Frankenstein back in Feb. Feel free, Gentlemen, to drop by the Polar Bears and have a visit.

When we have snow I always take the opportunity to press my face into it after a shave. I wife thinks the behaviour is a bit odd, but I put the irresistible urge to do it down to a celebration of its appearance.
It doesn't usually last long here, so I enjoy it while its there. It gives you a wonderful numb sensation.

Even though I dislike cold water ( hangover from my all expense paid vacation to SE Asia) the next to last thing I do is splash a little cold water on my face, dry, and put on a little after shave.

Being in NE Ohio the cold water is pretty cold even in the summer but the ice or even the ice water idea sounds really good and is something that I plan on trying.

I just use a bag of frozen peas, it forms to the face better. JK JK JK
