Thread: Two little ideas to try for alum and/or witch hazel users

Nothing revolutionary here, but I haven't seen these suggested elsewhere.

First, I have taken to keeping my witch hazel in the refrigerator. While I am a cold water shaver, and as such, this works quite well within this system, I think it might be equally delightful for hot water folk as well.

Second, my alum block came to me with harsh corners, pitted faces, and other imperfections that resulted in an overall unpleasant scraping when used. To solve this, I took the block to my DMT and lapped the faces/chamfered the edges. The resulting block is much smoother and more comfortable to use.

Ive never though of keeping the witch hazel in the fridge , Im a cold water aswell so I will give it a try , thanks

Cold as a witch's what, you say?

I have only ever tried w/h from cold from the fridge, though i should reverse this, and take it out for a try

I'll give the cold witch hazel a try. I've never used it before, but living in Phoenix, we have no "cold" water during the summer months to splash with post shave, so this witch hazel idea might be a brilliant discovery for me. Currently, when I have time, I've been keeping ice cubes with some water in my second sink which is really a labor intensive way of getting cold water.
