Thread: Pre Shave works better than...

Does pre treating your face with "stuff"..like scrubs (I use Dove body-soap myself)
But I think my question is more to the point of..if its a shave oil or splash of something on your face before go "wacking" away with your blade(s)..how do these oils/soaps/creams/etc...compare to NOT using anything at all?

It depends on the preshave. An oil will generally help with overall glide, while a cream like Proraso will help to open up the pores and soften the hairs.

In the end it's personal preference, like everything else. You'll have to try a couple and see for yourself whether you like the shave with or without a preshave.

To be perfectly honest, I can't ascertain if the pre shave oils, soaps and rituals help any more than a splash of lukewarm water.. That said, I often use them myself, because even if they don't help a whole lot, they certainly can't hurt...
