    Default Powder Brush

    Gents,
I for one love the feel of the lather brush on my skin and just wanted to relay a similar fine feeling post shave idea.

My barber gave me a $5 dollar horse hair powder brush. I put Gold Bond powder on it and run it over my face and shoulders and it feels awesome!

Anyway, not sure if anyone else is doing this but it's cheap and is a great ending to a fantastic shave.

Mods: not sure this this belongs here or in "finer life" forum so feel free to move it as necessary.

Does brushing on the powder give a better result than application by hand? I sometimes use Clubman barbers talc but I rub it in by hand.

I don't think there is any difference, I just like the feel of the soft brush after a shave

I find it distributes the power a lot more even without globs that by hand can do.

What does talcum powder give you? Does it negate the scent of the aftershave? I have never used powder with a shave.

Sometimes I'll brush on some Mexana talcum with a Hess Barber brush on my face. It's a medicated talcum powder and yes it feels good. Helps to dry the face from irritation and take away shine.

takes away the shine and keeps ring around the collar from forming.

A friend of mine used to do it but he died of silicosis from breathing in the powder.

Just kidding, sorry , couldn't resist ..... I don't do it but I might just start. I've had barbers give me the talc brush at the end of a haircut. After they shave around the ears and all. Feels great. Never occurred to me to do it myself.
