I think that if the cut is not just a little nick, adding Neosporin or similar will make it heal better, and reduce the tiny infection one can get.
I love the stuff, it really helps in healing and reduce scaring.
septic? ewwwwwThe reason to use a styptic pen is to stop the flow of blood by constricting the blood vessels around the cut. You may not be able to see the cut after only a few minutes, but eventually it will show up. I have had my razor skip on my cheek and not have the 2" long cut show up for an hour or so.
I would suggest doing what Birnando suggested and use some neosporin. You can even use plain ole' petroleum jelly. The main difference between the too is the inclusion of antibacterial agents in the neosporin. What is important is to keep the wound from forming a scab, which slows down healing, and leads to a greater chance of scarring.
Yea, the pen only stops the bleeding nothing else. If you are worried about the healing process some first aid cream or some vitamin A oil after the blood is gone can help there.
Any significant nick will take 2-3 days to heal. During that time, avoid hitting it again when you shave, or you'll extend the healing time. I'm telling this to myself as much as anyone else.![]()
Read my sig line, take the old barber's advice and you might not need that styptic anymore.
Yeah i just don't like walking around with a scab And i know i spelled styptic wrong, thanks for the advice guys
