Thread: Shave Butter.

Anyone tried this stuff? I picked it up at Target for $5, so it wasn't a huge investment. It is actually sold as a shave cream....although doesn't work too well as such. It even states on the side that it wont produce much (none, actually) foam. It does, however, work as a fantastic aftershave balm! Wonderful scent, slightly tropical in nature, and the wife loves it. The best part is that it's all-natural shea butter, no synthetics involved. Leaves me feeling super smooth and supple.

It might be a good component for an uberlather.

The side of the tub tell you to simple wet your face, then apply cream to brush (theirs, obviously, sold right next to the shave butter for $9.95 - quality!) and "lather" cream to face, but don't expect much foam because "our soap doesn't contain any of the harmful synthetic materials found in traditional shave cream."

Again, couldn't get it to shave well, but works fantastically as an Aftershave Balm.

But on another note, there is a buzz at the moment about non-foaming shaving cream (I think it's a fad and won't last.)

The Shea Moisture shave cream only hints as lather. It works relatively well in uberlather, just because you've paid money for it and you don't want to throw it out. I used it to uberlather with some of my low quality soaps, which I had piled up for years and found hard to get rid of. Then one day I got rid of the whole pile, including the Shea Butter shave cream. Save your money for something else. Now, the Shea Butter brush is fine for the money, but the shave cream . . . OY!

I find it to deliver a very smooth comfortable shave, I apply it by hand to a wet face and shave. Don't feel the need for a balm afterwards. Especially if I am using a straight (which I am new to for the last month). It's definitely my late to work cream.

Been using it as a balm and love it to death.

That's not even to mention that you need a pressure washer to remove the residue from your razor, the sink, the cat .. what ever.

Absolutely love the brush , though.

I tried this product and must say that the smell isn't that great and the fact that it doesn't lather at all is a big letdown. Also, my big problem with this "shaving cream" is that it's so thick that it clogged my sink. When I cleaned it out it was full of this cream I couldn't believe it so buyer beware. Much better creams and soaps out there :-)

If this is supposed to be used as a cream and you're using it as a balm isn't it going to develop a film on your skin that lasts all day? I've never tried it, so I am just curious, but to me it sounds like it'd leave residue in your pores.
