Default Using Whiskey as an aftershave?

    Hey gang!

Picked up some "Whiskey" shaving soap from Portland General Store a while back (great stuff, if you're looking for something new). But I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried using good old Whiskey as an aftershave?

I've always followed up my straight shaves with witch-hazel or some Nivea aftershave, but I'm a sucker for something a little more old-fashioned. I can imagine that's what cowboys out west used to do for finishing up a shave.

    Love to hear others thoughts...

Hmmmm, I would think the burn factor might be of some concern, that and showing up to work smelling like you just spent last night at the bar probably is not advisable. Give it a try this weekend and report back to us.

Whiskey belongs in your belly, not on your face.

SD alcohol that's in many aftershaves is the same as the alcohol in your whiskey. It just has ingredients added so that it would be unpleasant to drink.

I am not sure how the concentration of alcohol would compare, you might need to dilute the whiskey.

There are recipes for making bay rum from real rum, you could probably use some of those as a starting point to figure out the concentration needed.

Yeah whisky goes on the inside, aftershave goes on the outside!

Seriously though a good aftershave should contain things to condition the skin like glycerine, castor oil etc

When I was a young jackaroo in the late 70's I used Bundaberg Rum for aftershave one night !! Don't remember it did me much good in the jillaroo department !!

    Cheers

It'd be a waste of good whiskey if you ask me.

If you experiment with some EO's you never know . Could get the right scent to compliment it but dark rum is an easier alcohol to use as its been done before.
