I watched the video. Up till now I've always lathered on my face and I definitely haven't been using enough water. I tried the palm technique and WOW, what beautiful foamy lather. I was amazed!!

    Thanks for the demo.

You have an Asian Massage Parlor below your house, That is way cool....Also, I now feel old. I'm 47, Keep up your efforts, and try some SRD soap. There stuff is the bomb.
It lather's well, remember, you want to load your brush well, maybe 30 seconds on the puck, pushing and swirling to really get the lather in there. Then, if you transfer it to a scuttle, start adding small amounts of water, as you whip and push your brush in the scuttle..1/2 to 1 teaspoon at a time. You can overdo it easily here. It takes sometime, bu once you get it, it's great. Also, check the wiki here, there's some excellent info.
there something called "Uber" lather. that will definitely help you build tons of rich creamy lather......But once you get your technique down, you really won't need the uber unless you have crappy soap....

Don't feel old, 47 is the new 27. Heck most of the girls my age are chasing after guys in their 40's. Gross I know, but it's a sign of the times.

I'm currently using the SRD vetiver. I purchased it with my wet shaving set from them. I love the smell, and the times I get close to good lather, it's a very comfortable shave.

Maybe the problem is how I'm loading the brush. Some how I got the idea that you should only load for 3-6 seconds, which is what I have been doing.
