    Thats what I would do.

Lather up and apply a hot towel over the top for a minute or two, then wipe the remaining lather off, and re-lather. Stick another hot towel over the top, wipe off after a couple of minutes, re-lather and start the shave.

This works really well at softening the beard, and you can further improve things by really working that last load of lather in with the brush.

Just make sure the water isnt boiling or anything! The best temperature is as hot as the shavee can stand.

    Good luck!

Hot towels definitely help, but try it on yourself first. You could be in serious hot water, scalding somebody's majors with too hot towel. Also, check that it isn't too moist so that it would leak water to clothes.

Stubear gave you pretty good advice how, but here's a video anyways, showing you a nice wrapping technique.

    Lightbulb steam

maybe use any steam generated from the coffee pot...place the towel over the top of the pot, if it will fit, and as the water is heated the moisture and heat will warm the towel...maybe? just make sure the towel doesn't contact the heating element. never done it but you asked for ideas.

I assume you pour hot water from the coffee maker over your shaving soap in a mug to heat the soap up first? If so you can pour some hot water over your brush, shake it, and and relather your "customer" with warm lather a couple of times during the shave. Before applying each coat of lather, reheat the face towel with hot water, twist it to remove most of the water and shake it to cool below the danger point, and reheat the face before each lathering. That is basically what I do at home, and get very close and comfortable shaves.
