Thread: Castle Forbes for a beginner?

Love straight shaving but the only treatment i've used so far is Avalon Organics Lavender shave cream that i bought off the shelf at Whole Foods. I just squeeze a little out, rub it on my face with my fingers and start shaving. I would like to try a Castle Forbes product but no idea where to start.

I just got the Castle Forbes Lime. I love it but it's really expensive. I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't from money received for a birthday. I don't know if it's worth it but to each his own. Smells great.

I looked at these creams, thing is they look smaller than my tubs of Taylors and Trumpers...and cost just as much as Truefitt that I have. I got the Truefitt West Indies Limes cause I had the extra money from a land and real estate sale I made while back, and the tub is just as big and full as Trumpers usually is.

I don't see paying that kind of money for it if you get less, if it is less for more then it is truly what I call either a rip off or a money pit for rick folk lol.

Course I know nothing of the quality, but I don't think it would be worth it even if it had gold flakes in it.

+1 on the castle forbes lime, thats a really great cream. Its not the cheapest stuff but it is very good..!

Castle Forbes is absloutely fantastic, and is worth the money. It is my second favorite (many will rank it as their #1 all time favorite) and will last a long time.

No need to make this more difficult than it should be, just pick one of their scents that tickles your fancy and order it. Performance is consistant across the scents, so no worries there.

Really...hum well looking at it through a monitor doesn't do much for it I guess, figuring I might be wrong and to that end would one day have to try it myself in the end and see. Likely be a while since I spent a boat load of cash on lots of needed things and so now am broke, will see the next time round

Based on my estimated consumption, Castle Forbes cream costs me about $0.30 per day. For that I get to use one of the very best shave creams available. On a unit cost basis it is fairly pricey, but in the grand scheme of things it's a luxury I have no problem justifying.

I just re-read the op....you're going to need a brush with CF. I have tried to lather a regular cream with my fingers. It works.....sort of....a little bit.

Big +1, Castle Forbes is worth it. The lime is my favorite. It's a top notch shave cream. It's worth it to spoil yourself once in a while. It's a heavy dense cream, a little goes a long way. You don't need much of it. A tub will last you for some time....Like Bill said, You'll need a brush and bowl/mug/scuttle to use Castle Forbes properly....

After spending at least a thousend dollars on shaving creams and soaps over the last two years I can say that Castle Forbes Lime is my No.1. Easily.

Use a scuttle and a silver tip badger brush and you are in shaving heaven
