    Default Shaving Oil: experience??

Any of you guys have any experience with using any shaving oil to really shave with......
not just to prep your whiskers and then apply lather??

Im currently using Williams Shaving oil for my safety razor shaves, and would like to keep using it if possible

Thanks in advance for sharing (some of) your bathroom secrets

I've used Astroglide to shave with, and it seems to work fine. I prefer lather.

I haven't shaved with a straight using oil. Like you I have used both shaving oil and Baby oil for DE shaves. I stopped using this method due to the mess it made of the sink.

I may try it with a straight Razor just to see, but I imagine I would spend as much time wiping the mess off the razor as I would actually shaving.

That's one of the nice things about Astroglide. It's water soluble and rinses right off the blade. I still prefer lather, however.

I used to use KOS shaving oil with KOS alpha gel when i used a fusion, was ok, found it added some glide, but i get everything i need from my soaps and creams now, and if i do add anything, it's just plain glycerin. If i use a preshave on a quick shave day its "little blue tin" nivea

I have used Olive oil as a preshave, but it is too sticky on my face to let the razor glide. I have also used Astroglide and get better results than the oil, but will still end up sticking the razor to my face. Then I would need lots of pressure to move it forward.... just an accident waiting to happen. They work really well as an additive to my shave soap. I have used a bit of Astroglide as a final touch-up for a whisker or two without any problem.

Frankly, I've just used razors for shaving; the edge on oil seems to be lacking somehow.

Of course! During a hot shower, cover your face baby oil. Hot water + olive perfectly softens and gives a very good glide. The disadvantage of this method is slippery and dirty safe razor, hard to clean a bathroom. I prefer soap.
