Thread: Another method of towel warming/steaming!

I was going through my kitchen today, thinking what could steam towels. I looked up, and lo and behold, I saw it. My moms large wok and lid. It even has a steamer tray in it. It takes about 10 minutes start to finish to heat a towel. It is like the perfect moisture level from the steam, and really hot, but not too hot to handle or put on my face. Another good find!

I feel so inadequate for just running hot water on a towel, wringing it out and putting on my face...so primitive

My home heats our water off a boiler (good ole steam heated New England home), so it comes out of the faucet HOT! Too hot to put on my face, or even touch for that matter. Good to hear about your wok/towel warmer, never would have thought of that!

Get a micro wave safe dish, get a towel good and damp, nuke it for 2 or more minutes (ymmv). Fast and efficient.

Be careful using the microwave. The towels, like food, can get superheated areas that can easily give you 2nd degree burns.

You shave with a straight.... and yet you are afraid to appear primitive....hmmm.


@hamilton, good advice, the towel(s) will heat unevenly.

I see nothing primitive about using a straight..I think its quite the opposite.

In an age where we should all be environmentally conscious us straight razor users are not putting any plastic and metal from used cartridge razors into landfills.

Save the planet...use a straight razor

I have nuking towels in a microwave down to a fine art but as Hamilton946 rightly points out it can be a risky business!
