    Default Proraso AND Pre-Shave oil

So when I started straight razor shaving I used preshave oil (AoS Lavender, if it matter) but got some Proraso cream and have been using that and the other day was wondering if there would be any advantage or disadvantage to doing the following~>

Hot shower followed by Proraso followed by preshave oil then lather face then shave....

Does this seem redundant or has/does anyone do this??

    Thanks!

I do something similar - I start with 3P preshave cream then hot towel over the 3P, then Floid Sandolor preshave gel (absolutely love the scent) then lather then shave. After a pass with the razor, if I want to touch-up a spot I find that I can just rub some water on my skin and the Floid becomes nice and slick again.

Try it .... there are no wrong answers if it works for you.

For some preshave oil makes sense to keep a shower soft set of whiskers
wet and soft I have oily skin patches and oil does not help me but it might
    help you a lot.

I use just the Proraso Pre-shave cream, and I use it EVERY shave. I experimented with oils but found that the ones I used actually interfered with the ability of the cream or soap to 'froth' properly...

+1 to what Carl said, I am on the Proraso pre shave bandwagon. I tried quite a few different things (AOS, Olive oil, Noxema, Real Shave co.) and the Proraso worked the best.

I used to use KOS oil and it worked really well, but then I got some Proraso pre shave cream, it is simply the best. I also use just a touch post shave and it really releives the irritation on my skin. I'll never go back to anything else.

I recently made a trip to my old college stomping grounds in Minnesota and picked up, among others the Jack Black Beard Lude and a tub of Proraso. Boy, I like them both but that Proraso is fantastic! Ken

Yupper. The Proraso will definately wake you up (and probably cure any sinus congestion or upper respiratory illness as well...), but right out of the shower, a thin layer keeps things moist while I go to the strop. Good stuff.
