Default A new Bay Rum A/S? My take.

As I said in an earlier thread in the soaps forum, my soap and cream drawer is overflowing and I've curtailed an expansion there in favor of one brand. But my A/S corner only has a few members so I've been looking.

I saw an ad by what is to me a relatively unknown entity, Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements. They appear to be a small outfit located in Arizona offering a lower end selection of shave goods however what is noteworthy is they appear to concoct their own A/S line and associated products.

Being a Bay Rum Fan what caught my eye was a product called "Atomic Age Bay Rum A/S and Cologne". Their scent products all seem to sell for about $25 for 4 Oz. That's not lower end of course but it's not up there either. The stuff is billed as "different" and they emphasize no cloves. So I said I'll be the Guinea Pig.

First off the stuff is potent. You don't need much and unlike most Bay Rum it lasts for hours. Describing scent ain't my strong point but what immediately hit me was a strong bay scent combined with a citrus scent about as strong and then some light spice notes. It contains alcohol but there was no burn for me.

Yes it is different and I actually liked it.

If you are a Bay Rum Fan you might like it. If you try it and don't like it don't blame me.

Agreed! I got to sample this and will be ordering some more.
If you got to the product page, you can read about the thoughtfulness of putting together this scent. A bit like reading a novella, but still quite interesting as to why certain elements were included. And even more interesting - why certain elements were excluded that are traditionally put in a Bay Rum.

"A little dab'll do ya," for sure, and it does indeed last for hours.

The smell is hard to describe. Its bay rum alright, but its not like any other bay rum
I've ever tried. There's a touch of something floral in there, but its not sweet.

I dunno what it is, but I like it. Thanks for the tip, bigspendur!
