Thread: Old-Fashioned Scents

Gents,

While I believe there is a time and place for more modern scents, I was wondering if anyone here has some favorite old-fashioned scents: you know, so I can smell like granddad smelled (minus the whisky and chewing tobacco).

One of my favorites is Old Spice (my father once said, way back when, he didn't even realize there WERE other scents besides Old Spice) but I was hoping to get some other recommendations on the classics that are still around or modern scents based on the classics.

And just what's wrong with whiskey and chewing tobacco?? (In my case it would be pipe tobacco.)

A lot of us here are into those old scents. I'm one of many who loves the Pinaud Clubman line. That's my mainstay, with occasional help from an old bottle of a Russian Leather aftershave no longer made.

I really like Spanish Leather. Just a great scent, and it ages well on the skin too.

Gentlemen:

Make mine Spanish Leather by both Truefitt & Hill and Geo F Trumper. Woods of Windsor has been with me for years — and stays. The original Pashana aftershave. The original Pinaud Clubman aftershave. And English Leather.

try clubman bayrum, lime sec, or original scent.

Started using Tabac after using the shaving soap, took me a little while to get into it, but now it's my main aftershave.

Well, I soak a plug of chewing tobacco in 8oz of whiskey for about 6 hours, then mix it half and half with witch hazel and oak moss fixative...
