I really like balms and dislike splashes for the most part. I use the Nivea Sensitive along with most of the Bath and Body Works line of balms but noticed with how humid it has been that feeling of having wet pork chops wrapped around your face all day with these so I went on a mission to find something better. I figured I would start cheap and go from there. My first purchase was Nivea Cooling. It has alchohol and menthol in it. I am not a huge fan of alchohol but in the heat and humidity the clensing of it is probably worthwhile. Menthol and I tend to not get along well but figured it would help that heavy feeling.
So first use... The second it hit my face I was on fire. For a split second I instantly envisioned the trash can. But then almost as fast as the thought entered my head it was gone and a very slight cooling took over. Not overpowering face freeze but just a bit more than enough to but the burn out. My face felt light, smooth, and cool all day with no irritation from the menthol. My skin is soft and not tight at all and feels great.
This bottle was $7. It makes me wonder why people spend 40, 50, 60, or even more on a bottle of aftershave that I can't imagine could actually be more effective.
So, if you do not use something similar to the nivea line why do you use what you use? Is it the scent(nivea is basically unscented in all their products)? Do you think it actually works better? Is it the brand name?
I'm curious of the reasons. If something is really that much better I am willing to try it out but don't want to pay $50 for something sub par to what I can buy at walgreens.
