Default Please recommend a great aftershave balm.

    Hello,

I ordered a Truefitt and Hill sample pack and really like the aftershave balm. I was considering ordering a full size bottle of it but I thought I would ask you folks if you can recommend something in the same league. For reference I have tried the Nivia aftershave balm and do not think it's nearly as good as the Truefitt and Hill ASB.

I'd give the Nivia a 6 or so where the Truefitt and Hill I would rate an 8 or 9. Is there anything as good or better than the T&H aftershave balm?

    Thank you,
    --Shoki

Castle Forbes makes a top shelf AS too, very much on par (if not better)with T&H.

Yup, but it depends on what you like, thick or thin...There's Taylor of Old Bond st. Sandalwood Luxury After shave gel...It's thick, like vasaline, and has a long lasting wonderful Sandalwood aroma...It's very thick, and very soothing...Great stuff..
Also, along those lines is Speick, They make an After Shave balm which is good, The lotion is more like a liquid. They also make something called Speick Intensive cream, also thick, great fragrance... These are all 10's

Other than those, Trumpers Coral skin food, thinner, but great stuff..
The original is Rose scented, and they make Sandalwood, and Lime skin food as well...

T&H 1805 is good, but you already know that...
Nivea and Every man Jack are good too...

One trick I've learned is to mix 1/2 T&H 1805 and 1/2 Nivea. This will make the expensive 1805 last longer. The Nivea has no fragrance, so it retains the wonderful 1805 fragrance....

    Default Aftershave balm recommendation

    Hello, Shoki:

Truefitt & Hill's Ultimate Comfort (unscented) balm is just fine. So are balms by Edwin Jagger, Institute Karite, Pre de Provence, among others. Castle Forbes has great stuff, though pricey. Trumper's skin food is a delight — the rose for me.

The line of aftershave balms is long and confusing. To stay sane, start with Truefitt & Hills Ultimate Comfort.

    Regards,
    Obie

    Default Institut Karite!

I highly recommend Institut Karite Balm. This is my "go to" everyday aftershave balm that always leaves my face soothed, soft and moisturized without the "greasy" feeling. I actually reviewed it twice here:

It is a quality, clean aftershave balm that is inexpensive in my opinion.

I'm not a big Art of Shaving fan, but when I get a little more "feedback" from my Alum block than I consider optimal, their balm is what I reach for.

Please read my review of the Twinluxe Soothing Face Balm I posted a few months back. I have used almost all the after shave balms out there and I feel this Twinluxe aftershave balm is the best one out there.

Not many people know about this product so it is a nice secret as the company had recently launched. Their balm which also works as a daily moisturizer keeps my face moistened and soft as a babys butt while not feeling heavy. It is also not greasy feeling which is a must for me. Only thing I do not like is the price ($60 dollars) but perfection costs money. At least the bottle will last me a year minimum.

Not sure if you can link to other sites so just "google" Twinluxe and you will get their homepage.

i'm loving the pre de provence balm.. i'm not really a balm man.. but i've had to start using it in the colder weather of the northstate.. i love the scent and it's very moisturizing..

also.. skinfood is very nice stuff.. coral is a very nice rose type scent.. i'd like to try the limes at some point too.

+1 to Art of Shaving, their unscented balm should be renamed "no scent added", but it really works to soothe the skin and isn't greasy. Jack Black Post Shave Cooling Balm is good stuff, too. The scents on these are so mild they dissipate in a few seconds, and won't clash with any colognes you want to wear.
