    Default Pitralon

    Dear fellow straight razor shavers

Recently, I picked up this aftershave called "Pitralon" at a local supermarket, suspecting nothing at all.

After using it for 10 days or so, I figured that it's actually very good for my skin.
So I decided to google a bit to find some information on it.

Turns out that this aftershave was initially created by some german guy in the beginning of the 20th century.

These days, there are different "Pitralon"s being manufactured in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. And according to the Jerries at nassrasur.com the swiss Pitralon is the one that's actually the closest to its original mixture...

If you google "swiss pitralon" you'll find nothing but great reviews on it.

Anyone ever heard of it? Anyone using it? Anyone appreciating it as much as I do?

    Grüezi Shiznix!

When I was in Aarau for the ESF 2010 I made sure to get several bottles of schweizer Pitralon. My wife bought them for me on one of her shopping excursions while I was busy making loud noises at Rupperswil.

    I absolutely love the stuff!

It is in my regular rotation of aftershaves. If I ever have a tough shave, nothing soothes and heals like Swiss Pitralon. NOTHING is like it, and I have tried the other Pitralons, which are nice, but in my opinion do not compare to the Swiss stuff.

I have tried both the Swiss Pitralon and the German one. I am not a big fan of the Swiss one, but I really like the German one. Both smell very different.

Yep, Pitralon fan here also. I like them a lot. But, the formulas are very different.

There is also a Czech version of the Pitralon which is completely different from the German and the Swiss versions.

Well... good ol' Swiss Pitralon sure has conquered my heart within 6 seconds. I've been using it exclusively for the past 3 months and have to say that it's excellent.

bottom line: german steel + english soap + swiss aftershave = nice combination.
