Default Thinking of a New Aftershave

I have only one at the moment; T&H Trafalgar. I'm thinking of D.R Harris Arlington and maybe Pinaud Clubman Original (apparently it leads to wantonness) and Pinaud Island bay Rum OR D.R Harris Bay Rum and maybe Pinaud Clubman. Any recommendations? I do like my Trafalgar. I'm not wanting another citrussy scent though. I like the idea of a bay scent (is this like bay leaves you use for cooking?).

On a side note, it's a little sad I can get D.R Harris for 28.99 USD from SRD, but it costs 50 buckeroonies from an Australian online store. Considering the exchange rate, that's 27 AU bucks Vs 50 AU bucks.

Oh NO!!!! I spoke WAY too soon!!! 30 bucks postage, you've got to be joking!!!
Guess I'll get the D.R.Harris from Mens Biz after all, but I really wanted to try the Pinaud too (as it leads to wantoness....) and I can't find it anywhere else!!!! Guess I COULD just get the D.R.Harris Bay Rum???

I do love the Arlington product line.
But if a citrussy scent is out, then so is Arlington
    Quite citrussy that one.
D R Harris has other great scents though. The Marlborough is IMO a great scent.

Here's the description from their web-site:
A recent addition to our range of fragrances, Marlborough is a subtle blend of woods including cedar and sandalwood. The Cologne is more concentrated than the aftershave for a longer-lasting, yet not overpowering fragrance. Marlborough is suitable for everyday use.

Good luck with finding a new scent

I too love the Arlington line.

I also like some aftershaves made by companies other than D. R. Harris. They are: Aqua Velva (Classic), Pino Silvestre, Pashana (Original), Irisch Moos, and Tabac. I especially like the Pashana. It is a pleasant non-citrus, long-lasting scent.

Just starting to use the Pinaud Clubman. I like it and the old-time barbershop scent. I have used their Bay Rum, but would like to try a different one once I run out-for comparison purposes. I'm using Tabac soap now, and might get some of their AS to go with it.

I believe the bay leaves used in Bay Rum aftershave are different then the leaves used in cooking. Here's an article on how to make your own:

I haven't tried any of the aftershaves you mentioned (I'm not a fan of aftershaves), but if I were going to buy one, this aftershave on Etsy sure did catch my eye. Monsieur Jameson Alcohol Free Aftershave by 9cirmes on Etsy

I really like the scents they used.

    Hey Carl,

I agree with Birnando, DR Harris Arlington is citrus based, so you may want to head in a new direction. It sounds like you're Bay Rum curious, so you might as well buy it 'cause the curiosity isn't going to go away.

I haven't tried any of the English Bay Rum blends (ex- the 3 T's, Harris etc), but I have tried Clubman, Dominca and Ogallala. They are all fine products, but quite different. Out of those three I'd say Dominica is my favorite, narrowly edging out the Ogallala. The Clubman is nice, but is heavy on cloves and it burns like Hades when you put it on. So if you like sting that one would be your choice!
