Yeah, I just pierce the capsule and squeeze the oil into the bottle. A couple or three usually. I read that the contents are actually Avocado oil. But, I always have the capsules around. You will need to shake the bottle before splashing, though. The oil and alcohol will separate.

I use both, balm first then after shave. My "balm" is not always purpose built. The Nivea stuff top shelf for sure but I've also had good luck with Corn Husker's Lotion or just plain old Aloe Vera Gel. Living in a sub-tropical climate though, balm isn't always absolutely necessary as dry skin is seldom much of a problem. Sometimes I'll just go with a healthy slap of witch hazel followed up with an aftershave or cologne.

Feather Kanwa has my vote. I love the stuff. Goes on wet, smooth, dries and my skin feels like skin, not greasy or plastic, not irritated at all, and it doesn't smell like anything so it goes over any other scent I use. It's available in smaller travel bottles (not samples that I've found yet, or I'd share it with my friends).

I guess I'll be the one in the aftershave only crowd. My skin doesn't like balms. It's too humid down here and my skin gets too greasy. I have noticed some AS do better jobs at moisturizing then others.
