    Hey, it wouldn't be the first scent to have this smell.

    A lot of aftershave manufactuers offer samples of their products. I know Clubman does (though you've stated this is not one you'll be using). There's St. John's Bay Rum that offers a sampler for little money. Captain's Choice Bay Rum.

    4711 is a nice fragrance, very barbershop, at least to me. The problem with suggesting is you list your likes which kind of possess the same sort of barbershop vibe. However, you want 5 different scents.

    Really, it's almost best for you to look at some shave of the day posts and start choosing things you want to try. That's what I've done in the past. Try something I'm not familar with, if nothing else to soothe my curiosity. The other issue is how much do you want to spend on this? You can get large bottles of Osage Rub for about $6. Well, you know what Alt Innbruck runs.

    Truefitt and Hill has a sampler there are some scents I am sure you wouldn't like I.E. Spanish leather or Clubman but the 1805 or West Indies Lime or Trafalger you might like. If you are ever near Akron Oh stop by Imperial Shave in Medina. They got open bottles that you can smell. I spent over an hour in the doing just that one day.

    I was going to recommend Clubman until I saw you don't like it. I find Floïd and Clubman to be a little similar...

    How about "Eau de Turde". Let me know when you come up with the complimentary soap.

    I'm not familiar with the AS you list. These are my top two...so far , PGS Whiskey (great stuff feels great, earthy scent, not strong), and RazoRock wax (love this stuff feels great, scent puts me in mind of a pine forest), another I just got is Scodoli AS, Launduam WH seems to work good, the scent I'm not sure I'm keen on, kind of candle shoppy. None of these sit on your face like some balms do, they seem to all soak in. None of them smell like any of your dislikes nor do they have strong scents. I figure that's what colonge is for and I'm not much for wearing colonge.

    Just tried Osage Rub. As far as aftershaves go, this one is special, and possibly not for everyone. It will wake you up as it is heavier on the menthol. Not an overpowering smell, but the brisk, refreshing feeling on your skin lasts longer than most.
    Not a high priced item; it's worth a try.

    May be you should consider the broad groups of smells and then look for stuff you like in them.
    Alt Innsbruck = tobacco
    4711 = citrus
    bay rum = spice

    But of them just alt innsbruck is pure note, for example 4711 is a blend of several citruses (bergamot, lemon, orange, neroli), and has some herbacious middle notes of rosemary, as well as some woodsy stuff in the base.

    Since you do not want florals (big mistake in my opinion), other things to consider are leather, woods, earthy, spicy, and different herbacious things, etc.. And within each group you have a pretty wide spectrum. You'll typically get a blend, but starting with the predominant character would is probably not a bad way to go about.

    Consider Clubman Pinard Special Reserve. I would call it a spicy, refreshing, powerful scent. It will last for a will so use it sparingly until you find a level that you are comfortable with. Ten dollars on Amazon - it is worth a try.
