Thread: Cream of the Kropp?

Hi - just thought I'd start one off for Kropp razors as I happen to rate these quite highly, having a 5/8, 6/8 and 8/8in my razor cupboard (still looking for a good 7/8 but I WILL find one!

Usually quite plain (a la Bengalls, which I also rate), Kropps were a London company that had their razors made in Sheffield and Hamburg and sold them world-wide (my 8/8/ was made for Whiteway & Laidlaw, Rangoon!). SO - let them out for a bit of air, chaps! I will put some photos up asap but any that you have - let's see em!

I picked up one of these from a Marine recruit that i met. He knew I liked str8's so he brought me a Kropp that he had at his house. Really ugly and kept in bad shape but I followed Lynn's DVD and it cleaned up real nice. Like new.

Hi, here's mine a 5/8 Sheffield Kropp, taken from ebay sharp to very shavable (my first hone)
They look nothing special, but they are robust (mine had been put in the box still covered in lather, after a clean looked like new!) and perfect at the job.

thought I'd better send a pic as I started this! These are two in my rotation, a 5/8 and an 8/8. Pretty obvious which is which!

I hate to tell you this Mr B, but that bottom one is a Chavs chrome car spoiler not a razor
and you have stolen my 5/8 Kropp, I swear it's mines twin

Tut and fie, LSBFW, a CHROME car spoiler? You jest. Still - it did take one hell of a lot of honing..........

come on gentlemen step right up, step right up. A troubling situation has arrived in the razor club and that is the use of thumbnail pictures. I know that some of you old timers still remember when the razor clubs were a thing of beauty! with large glossy pictures of razors and we viewed until our hearts content. but those days are through it would seem. I beseech all the members of the razor clubs to take the poll in the general section and vote to restore large pictures to our beloved razor clubs. It is up to us gent and together we can restore these clubs to there former glory!!!!!!

To be honest, I post big pics because I have no idea how to do the thumbnail thing - honestly, despite running 10 websites! Anyway, I finally got my 7/8 so I now have a pretty full set unless there are any 4/8 out there at one end of the scale or 1 irons at t'other!

I want to know where all the Ivory Kropps are
I saw an old advert and they came in black, white and Ivory. The Ivory razors were about twice the price of the black 'uns, Not bad thinking about it.
Anyone got a seven day set? Mine is a Tuesday!
Could we include the Kropp strops here too?

well I've got a six-day set. That is, a seven-day set with one missing. I bet LSBFW has the beggar.....
