In a thread here i've read once that scientist farraday made his first experiments with steel adding some real silver in the laboratory and is one reason why silver steel name still is used
In my opinion with today alloy steels even if they are not silver steel doesn't matter and is not a defect compared to vintage razors
Is more important the steel to be constructed hardend and tempered properly and of course to be grounded without warpage etc
The title "Silver Steel" has also been a generic in the UK for Tool Steels according to the machining forums. Tool steels are high carbon steels which are alloyed so as to sufficiently harden with differing quench medium. Like water, air, and oil. Then they are tempered in various methods from there.

Both are awesome shavers and both took sharp and smooth edges with relative ease. The tapered blade has become my new favorite.
