Thumbs up John Sellers & Sons "Unnamed 6/8 wedge in ivory"

Size: 39.1 KBI got this razor from Sharp&Shiny as part of a trade. I received it in almost shave ready, good condition. The razor has a nice mirror finish, marred only by an area of pitting that cannot be sensibly removed. The rest of the details can be found in our Straight Razor Database: Sellers, John & Sons "Unnamed 6/8 wedge in ivory". You are looking at a sizeable wedge with beautiful scales which can be had a at a reasonable price.

Craftsmanship: Immaculate, particularly taking into consideration the razor's age. The scales are beautifully done, fit tightly, and open and close without any problems. The blade is just what you would expect from an antique English razor.

Balance: Very good, but leaning a bit towards the blade. Not much of a problem, but not perfect, either.

Collectibility: Sellers razors are quite rare. They are also quite underrated.

Price: Despite their being rare, these razors can be had for a reasonable price on various auction sites. Get one if you can.

Overall: One has to like wedges to fully appreciate this razor. It is far from easy to hone (thankfully, Nick of The Different Scent took care of mine, as honing a smiling wedge is, and will be for a long time, beyond my honing abilities), but once it is shave ready, it is up there with the best of them. I received three other wedges as part of the trade, but this one is clearly my favourite.

Default My Sellers oblique point near wedge

I have the oblique pointed version of this razor with ivory scales. Thankfully bluepriciple honed it so I'm only going to need to touch it up once it need it. It is a little bit blade heavy, but it is a big piece of metal.
I got it for fathers day '08 and it is the best present I could have hoped for from my daughters.
If you see one don't buy it as I wouldn't mind getting my hands on another one. Mr Sellers was a Master razor maker.

It originially came from an ebay seller but the name af Tommy Dunne . He has been mentioned on this forum before & He used to live in the UK ,Ithink he was in Bristol. But You dont see him on ebay UK anymore as he moved to the USA . He may well still be trading on Ebay USA. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Yes, "Tommyrazor" based in Florida. But the razors still ship from the UK. I got that Taylor in my SOTD yesterday from him about 6 months ago.
