I shaved with my Filarmonica EPBD for the first time yesterday. It is an amazing razor. This is the only razor I have ever used that could approach, equal or surpass my Dubl Duck Wonderedge.

Like the popular saying of my youth, "It's a mean motor scooter and a bad go getter.!!!!!!

I intend to take very good care of this razor and it should last me the rest of my life.

I paid a lot of money for this razor and do not regret one penny!

If you have one you are blessed.

    Wink Filarmonica Marks on tang

Has anyone ever seen a Filarmonica without any marks on the tang of the blade. I have seen pictures of some with or a few without. I would like to know what others have discovered?

    Many Thanks

I bought this razor from one of the members of the SRP board in mint condition and shave ready for $350.00.
I shave with it yesterday first time and it was unbelievable great shave.
I have to admit I am fairly new to straight razor shaving, but I tried about 20 different straight razors before and never had such success.

    Default Filarmonika-rubber grip

There is another issue with this blade that can be easily overlooked.
It does not matter what climate zone you live in, sooner or later the moisture will get under a rubber grip and a rust formed.
It is catch 22 situation, because if you do not service the area under the rubber grip, you will have rust there, however, the rubber will remain untouched, and if you do, then there will be no rust, however, the rubber may be damaged.

I personaly prefer the first choice.

One more thing, my blade has been tested on the HRC and has showed a medium temper of 56.5.

I'm interested to know if the average HRC you mention is along the edge or in distinct places like the spine, shank, etc.

The blade tested in one spot on the spine just near the shank by an accredited metallurgist. The edge test is passible, but you have to be ready to say by-by to your razor,as the test involve high pressure with the diamond point tool. To be 99% sure, one has to know the exsact prosses of blade tempering
by Jose Monserrat. In any case it is highly unlikly that it is the same as the Japanese sword makers do. Therefore I presume that the whole blade been
tempered by the same prosses, but I maybe wrong.

Default EPBD #14 - more of a cadillac than a porsche. But luxury abounds.

Tremendous. Honestly, if you're looking for a better shaver... good luck!

Preferences are highly subjective among straight razors. And this one is large... just big. Its 8/8. Thats big. For some, its too big. For me, its a razor that, once you get the correct edge and angle on, shaves exactly as you imagine a straight razor should shave in a perfect world.

A big razor means you can't always really see whats happening behind the razor, you can't really maneuver it very well in tight spaces sometimes. It's basically a full face shaver (square point - mine), as you won't be able to get super-tight if you keep some tightly groomed facial hair with close edges and such.

Anyway, it shaves like silk. Whenever I shave with it, I just can't imagine cutting myself with it. Something about a big razor seems to give more control and allow for more error... I don't know if thats the case, but it feels more comfortable to me. And this one gets me super close in just 2 passes. I don't really feel the need to go ATG with this one. I'm just so close with 2 passes.

This razor gets a lot of hype. But does it perform to its expectations?
Mine did. I was amazed. Its a lot of razor. It must be some really spectacular steel or something, because it shaves really, really well.

Its more like a cadillac than a porsche. You're not going to get the tight corners, but you'll get a nice, comfortable ride that doesn't fail to satisfy.

I bought the razor because of this review and absolutely happy with it.
