Default Thiers-Issard 6-7/8 Festonné, Historic Blade w/ Snakewood Scales

Craftsmanship: I gave this razor a 10 based solely on the blade itself. If I had to account for the issue with the scales then I would seriously demote it overall. As you can see in the photos the scales are off by 2/16” and in fact I’m shocked I got it balanced to take that photo. One side was drilled higher than the other. But as many have experienced with various manufacturers, scales seem to be the weak point of some vs. others. That aside the quality is excellent from the mirror polish to my favorite, the thumb notch. To note Martin from RasurPur.de is sending me some TI snakewood scales to take care of this issue.

Balance: This is a heavy blade but oddly does not feel as heavy as it looks. In my opinion it could benefit from heftier scales but being a purest I’m replacing them with factory TI snakewood scales (see “Craftsmanship” above).

Collectability: Like all things collectable its market driven so we’ll just have to see. I do however feel that the blade design, i.e. back design, thumb notch, and all in a 6-7/8, could give it a higher value in the future. If TI would have used different style scales along with it I think that would have helped it.

Price: $324US from Rasurpur.de was fair in my mind. This is the exact same blade, except for etching / gold wash, that Rasage Poulin has for $345 with the same scales and Knife Center has for $235 with the cheaper stamina scales.

Shave: Effortless! It feels like your just wiping your face off with silk. The heft of the blade makes this the best shave I have EVER had in my life.

Vendor: Great experience with Martin of Rasurpur.de, no complaints here and would recommend.

Overall: How much do I like it you ask… I ordered another one! These two will be replacing the two I’ve rotated for the past decade. I almost never by razors, I only own eight, and two of those I inherited. Enough said.

Just a note... the price listed for Rasage Poulin in the review is a price in Canadian dollars, not USD.

$345 Canadian = $326 US (as of ten minutes ago anyway) and they have free shipping @ Rasage right now for orders over $75. I went with Rasurpur because of the etch / wash on the blade. The Le Canadien is pretty but... well... Canadian. If I was Canadian I would have jumped all over it.

Your review is right on about the shave quality from this blade. I also have a snakewood scale version but mine is from a French vendor with buffalo markings. Fortunately, the scales are in line. I have over 20 razors but this is my favorite.
