I love every aspect of this place. What was the gents name from school anyways if you don't mind me asking, maybe I know them.
If I recall correctly, was a long time ago in the 80's...Dave Chamberlain....that ring a bell?

Just from my recent research I would say top is real, bottom is fake. But am still uncertain to be able to say definitively. But I'm goiń by the pinning without the washer on the first (although the seconds bottom doesn't as well), and the transparency of the second one. As well as the dark in the second seems to be coming from the bottom and not all the way through. Just a coat over top of it. And the foggy edges of the dark on the second, but I kind of see that on the first as well.

Yea that's what I'm thinking as well. Seems to be bug bites revealing a darker material underneath.

You will eventually be able to tell without using a test which is which....normally, if in doubt, testing like that and potentially damaging what might turn out to be genuine Ivory or Tortoise, is not the best way to determine.

You guessed correctly with regard the two razors I posted, the top was a Heljestrand Mk. 32 in genuine tortoise, the bottom was an Elliot razor in faux tortoise....good for you, new to the game and you got it right, trust your eye....great find though on the razors still.

At least I'm learning. That's all I can ask for. And you're right about the damaging. I was sad to do it. lol luckily they are still alright.
