    Default Böker = Wacker

    Hy guys,

Can't belive what I've seen last Saturday on TV. I was watching a report on Kabel1 (german TV) abaout the Böker damascus Razor witch gets forged by Markus Balbach http://www.schmiede-balbach.de. The Razor steel is forged with a new tecnique and has 320 layers, but I think you allready now that. Nevertheless they showed how the razors get forged at Böker etc. But the guy who hones the new Böker razors was Heribert Wacker himself. I couldn't belive my eyes but the reporter said his name. So it doesn't realy matter if somebody buys a Wacker or a new Böker, because they get all honed by Heribert Wacker. The only difference could be in the steel quality.

Did anybody know that, or am I the only one who is surprised?

Did the programme say "honed by" or "ground by"?

The damascus link is interesting - I'm quite a bit more interested in the Boker damascus now (argh!)

I'm not too surprised. The new Bokers really looked a lot like Wacker razors, so it wasn't a big leap to imagine that Wacker might be working under some sort of contract for Boker (who haven't been making straights for a long time and therefor lack staff to do that sort of thing).

Moved this to the razors forum because that is the general discussion forum for razors.
