You mean this one? Antique Boker Tree Brand Red Injun Straight Razor w/ bx - eBay (item 330285623727 end time Nov-17-08 12:54:24 PST) I can honestly say that it wasn't me, although I was considering it.

sadly what I am willing to pay and what I am able to pay are seldom the same (willing being the excess). but I guess the ones I win I know were truly meant for me. besides, I try to console myself with the knowledge that there will be other deals. and that I won't get in as much trouble.

Sniping is irritating for those of use who are victims. I lost a fly rod auction to a known sniper.

Are you joking or is this a serious statement? After all, it is an auction, therefore a contest.

Anyway, fly fishing is one of my other expensive vices, but it's been a long while since I've acquired another rod. I don't think my wife would be too happy about it if I got back into the whole bamboo addiction again.

Good luck with your next venture.

My post is gonna be completely off topic, and for that I apologize, but...

Sniping is *not* how real auctions are run. It is not an accurate measure of "the price the market will bear". It is using/abusing the system. It's an attempt for people to get the very lowest price possible on an item. So lot's of people do it. You can argue the moral/ethic side of it til you are blue in the face, and you still ain't gonna change my mind: it's wrong. If you think it's right, great, keep doing it. But you *still* ain't gonna change my mind.

Ebay is currently reviewing auction rules. They are considering changing auction ending times. Any bid placed as a snipe will extend the end time. Example: There is one minute left, and someone places a bid on an item. The new ending time would be 30 minutes after the latest bid was placed, in this example 29 minutes later than the original end time. Every time a new bid is placed, the ending time will be pushed back another thirty minutes, until thirty minutes have elapsed with no bid. At that time, the auction will close.

Personally, I can't wait to see them make this change. If you are in favor of seeing this change made, I encourage you to contact ebay and let them know. I sure have.
