Thread: BERGISCHER LOWE: WHAT DOES THE NAME MEAN?

I own a new DOVO BERGISCHER LOWE, that I purchased a month ago. I bough the razor pre-sharpened by classic shaving. com. I love the razor, it shaves well. I'm really getting the hang of a str8. Its my avatar pic next to my thread. I don't know what BERGISCHER LOWE means though? I know that MEISTERWERKE IN STAHL means MASTERPIECES IN STEEL. Is BERGISCHER LOWE a Dovo CEO? A blade or razorsmith there. A founder of Dovo or Bismark the company they purchased some time ago? Is it the plant itself or a suburb of Soligen? Or, is it a statment of execllence? Is it a saying? Can anybody help me out, please? Oh by the way did I say I love my BERGISCHER LOWE! STRAIGHT RAZOR 13.

Bergischer Löwe = Lion from a certain area near Solingen/Germany

That certain area being Bergisches Land - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Not 100% sure, but I think the phrase literally translates as "mountain lion"

That would be Berglöwe. And before any members of the local huntin' shootin' fishin' society start hopping on board their lear jets, let it be known that there are no mountain lions in Germany at all.

Instead of an Umlaut you cn write an e after the letter with the Umlaut.

Thanks Kees, but quite honestly, I would rather poke a little fun at Robin! And, if there was a Belgian equivalent to the umlaut, I would use that instead just to to watch Robin writhe in pain!

Just for the record, German umlauts used to be regular vowels with an e in old German script on top. More details here: Umlaut (diacritic) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Dutch have a different approach to umlauts, Germanic umlaut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, courtesy of the fact that they still speak some sort of glorified middle High Franconian bastardised with modern English, Indonesian, Turkish, Moroccan Berber, Papiamento, and Sranan.

Just thought I should mention it, you know?

It means Mountain Lion. At least that's what the Dovo staff told me.
