    No it's regular stainless steel, the pattern is decorative. I don't know whether the blades are the same, they seemed different to me, but I don't have the statistics to know.

    I'd go for the perlex myself the micarta is a little thicker in the hands, while the perlex would be more manageable.

    Over the last 20 years i have had 3 razor with plastic or Perlex scales. I now own a
    Micarta one. It is true that the Micarta scale is thicker but i feel it will probably
    last longer. The one that broke all broke at the level of the pivot pin. I might go
    for wood scales for the next one.

    Are there places that will replace the scale only? I still have 2 broken razors but
    the blades are still in perfect shape.
