Thread: Dovo Fritz-Bracht vs. Dovo Tennis

I have had neither of these razors but have heard good things about them, particularly Dovo Fritz-Bracht. Has anyone had both of these early production Dovos and could match them up against each other? I look forward to people's thoughts. Thank you in advance.

Yes I have owned them both in fact a couple of examples of both...

As to one being better than the other, I don't remember any difference on the face at all...

Personal aesthetics maybe, the Tennis razors tend to be a bit more flashy looking, but even that isn't a set rule

I have a number of Fritz Dovos and a Tennis marked on the reverse tang Dorp-Voos. What is interesting is that I had read that Fritz made the Tennis razor. I knew that Dorp-Voos became Dovo and Fritz bought them out after WWII. So I was surprised to come into a Tennis with Dorp-Voos stamped on the reverse tang. Apparently Dorp-Voos (A.K.A. Dovo) made the Tennis before Fritz bought them out and his name became associated with the Tennis when he took Dovo over. We need manah's input to sort that history out. I've only got the one Tennis and it is as good as the Fritz marked Dovos I have. Most Solingen razors are quite good IME.

That was my impression too. Then I came upon the Tennis/Dorp-Voos. That is why I say, we need manah to clear the question up. The attached photos, taken by the seller, are of my Dorp-Voos Tennis. I don't have time to take a reverse tang shot, gotta go to work. But take my word for it the reverse is stamped Dorp-Voos.

Possibly, you want to ask Dovo Fritz-Bracht vs. Tennis. Tennis was separate company before 1952.
Fritz Bracht became an owner/director in 1940.
In 1952, "Tennis" was taken over and so on...
Jimmy, about your nice "Manganese" razor.
My opinion, the razor was made after WWII, early 50's or later.
The situation in the German industry was horrible. And the company used all stock: DOVO blades plus Tennis handles.
