Maker Identification: THE IDEAL #606 Peacock SR
Hi,
is anyone able to help me with the identification of the following SR ?
It is a 5/8in round-headed double-shoulder SR with structured & colored Peacock celluloid scales.
The front of tang reads only the number 606.
The blade is etched THE IDEAL.
The back of tang reads GUARANTEED BEST RAZOR STEEL and BEST GERMAN HOLLOW GROUND.
Who made this SR ?
Was it made in Germany / Solingen ?
It came with a box saying THE ANCHOR RAZOR Trade#Mark Extra Hollow Ground SCHMIDT 99.
I don't think that this box is related to the SR.
Any help and additional information is welcome !
Thanks - the SOLINGER

Difficult to say. Many brands were made with handles with peacock pattern:
Cosmo Mgf.Co.
H.Gambert
Fox Cutlery Co.
ERN
W.H.Morley
J.Scott.

That's what I thought also... I think to identificate it will work only if somebody knows WHO has used the etching THE IDEAL ...

Are there any trademark stamps on the tang or on the inside of the scales?

I know Curley & Brother New York used the Trademark Ideal. I believe they only Imported Razors.

Trademark "Ideal" was used by some companies. If I remember correctly, Ideal trademark is used till now.
But here, we have "The Ideal". It's a different trademark.

YES - you are both right !
CURLEY used IDEAL as a trademark for his Safety Razors.

However - I never saw a CURLEY classic straight razor w/o the safety bar.
As manah correctly says, we will have to look for THE IDEAL trademark to identify my mysterious #606 Peacock SR.
Greetings from Razortown
