Hello and welcome to SRP. You are very lucky to have heirloom razors from your father. Boker razors are well regarded by straight razor shavers. I have several. The Kropp I have seen around but I don't recall the details of it. In general, if the razor is from Solingen Germany, Sheffield England, the US or Sweden is should provide great shaves. If you plan on using the razors be sure to have a professional hone them for you. You can find members that provide that service in our Classifieds section under members services. Good luck.

I really love that Boker, my advice to you is get it honed up and shave with it, you just might like it.
I know most of us here at SRP will never go back to ripping the hair off our face with a "modern" multi bladed torture device.
Also they were your dads razors, what better way of remembering him then shaving with a blade he used everyday.

Manah, does your razor also say GIRMANY on the back of the tang? It's funny how the manufacturer let a typo like that slip past on such a gorgeous razor.

Thanks for the replies, and I did notice the GIRMANY misprint, wish I could find a year (or range of years) for the Boker. It appears that both blades are in in great condition and thans for the advice about getting them honed. I have been wanting to make the switch to wet shaving for some time and have now a great opportunity to connect with my past and get a close shave. Off to research the HOW TO section of the site.

It's not a typo. I've seen the word "Girmany" in some old newspapers (before WWII). But I couldn't find the logic of using this word yet.
English isn't my native language.
For example:

The eighth line from the top of the table.

The First Cut is the Deepest!
Normally, I would make the standard offer of "You don't want that, send it to me for proper disposal" but even a cad like myself cant bring himself to separate a man from a wonderful heritage like that. Family heirlooms for men are so incredibly rare. Treat them well, and see to it that they are cherished for generations yet to come!
