Thread: Any Ideas about this maker?

I picked this up today and plan to restore it, it looks like the maker is B Bert & Co and nothing else on the tang or blade.
Any Ideas? I can't find any info on this maker.

There was a maker called 'Hibbert' I believe, that could be what it used to say. Try searching the forum for that or wait for someone like Manah to share some wisdom. Enjoy!

Yes, you have found the rare and little known "Sesame Street" razor. Not many people know that Bert and Ernie went into business together manufacturing straights. Unfortunately they had a falling out a short time after creating their first factory when, it is supposed, Bert's well-documented gambling issues lead to trouble with a well-known underworld figure, Cookie "the kneecap" Monster.

Ernie went on to great success in the US market (Ern razors), whereas Bert struggled a bit due to his resemblance to a large banana. At the time, during the depression, the people were wary of large bananas for obvious reasons.

In any event, congratulations on your score. Rumour has it that it is a singing razor: if you strop it well, it sings "Rubber Ducky".
