    Default Hart or Revisor

I have the opportunity to purchase a new razor in the 300 price range. I've heard great things about both makers. So I could go USA made or go European. In the Hart I would go 7/8 point with coco bolo scales and in the Revisor a 8/8 with Horn scales. I really can't make up my mind. What do you guys think???

Your question is very subjective, as a lot of wetshaving is, the Hart is a serious no nonsene razor at 1/4 hollow. It will provide great shaves. Revisors are great razors as well with a large following. It is apt to be a bit lighter
blade wise and will provide superb shaves as well. If you are new to both makers I would read all I can about each one and then try to decide.
My preference, not necessarily yours, would be an 8/8 Revisor. You will get some great advice here to help you
understand the differences between the two brands. Good luck! I think you will get a great shave no matter which way you go. Let us know what you decide and how you like the razor you pick.

I have 2 Harts and love them both. They are great shavers and are built to last. Just my $0.02

I have a 6/8 Hart and a 13/16 half hollow Vintage Revisor and love them both for their different characteristics.

Personally I would go for the Hart because of the heavier grind, but as with everything else YMMV.

Don't thhink you will go wrong either one you decide to get

I'm sure both razors shave great, so it's really down to which one looks better to you. Personally, I think Hart razors look clunky, so from a purely aesthetic standpoint I'd pick the Revisor. However, that's just my opinion.

Perhaps if you have a stable of mostly 1/2 hollow to full hollows, you could go for the Hart just for variety.

You can't go wrong with either. For me personally, I would go with the Hart simply because it's hand crafted here in the USA & you actually get the personal touch of the maker's initials...but if you have that 8/8 calling, it will always be calling until you answer the call. As far as looks, the Hart is a bit more utilitarian where the Revisor is a bit more elegant IMO. It's your dough you are plunking down, so go with what you "want" and "fits" your taste as they will both provide excellent shaves. The Revisor will need to be honed & the Hart comes shave ready IIRC.

    Thumbs up Hart or Revisor???

Please take what I say very seriously. I never owned a Hart Razor so I cannot comment on them. I only know what has been posted about them.

However, I have 4 Revisors, three of which are pictured her. When properly honed and stropped, there is no better shave on the planet than with a Revisor razor. Many will agree.

If you have a yen for a Hart, get one. If you want a guaranteed great shave, get a Revisor. Either way, a properly honed and stropped blade is what you need. It really doesn't matter whose name is on it. I can't be more succinct than that.

    Happy shaving.............
